Eastern Box Turtle
Identification: 4.5 - 6 inches. The Eastern Box Turtle is a land turtle with a high domelike shell and an extremely variable coloration and pattern. Both upper and lower shells may be yellow, orange, olive, black, or brown; either light or dark colors may be predominate. It has four toes on each hind foot. Males sometimes have red eyes and females usually brown.

Range: Southeast New Hampshire to Georgia, West to Michigan, Illinois,and Tennessee.

Turtles are very territorial and should not be taken from their homes!
